Volunteering with Bank.Green

Although we are beginning to fundraise, we are still currently led by volunteers! If you would you like to extend your climate impact beyond talking to your bank or switching to a greener alternative, we would love for you to join our team! Below we describe various roles that you may be able to help us with, depending on your background and availability.

If any of them interest you, do reach out to hello@bank.green, attaching a copy of your C.V. and letting us know about your availability! We are still a small team and receive a lot of enquiries, but we will do our best to get back to you, even if we feel it may not be the best fit.

UX and Graphic Designers

Bank.Green is always looking for better ways to communicate its vision. We are seeking a UX designer to help create user flows on our website and other applications. Furthermore, we are seeking a graphic designer to help design white papers, social media graphics, and website mockups. A volunteer for this role does not need to commit many hours per week (2-5) but does need to be available to respond to questions quickly on Slack. We mostly design in Figma but are open to volunteers using their preferred tools. Have a look at our roadmap and culture presentation and email if you'd like to get involved.

Microsoft Exchange/365 Admin

Our team uses the Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms for email, calendaring, compute, and some office applications. We are seeking someone with experience to help us configure these services. This is a productivity boosting low availability and low effort role at one hour a week or less.

Excel Developer / Consultant:

Bank.Green is developing a methodology and related excel-based questionnaire scoring banks on their environmental performance. We would like your expertise in designing, developing, and specifying parts of our excel questionnaire, including macros and API's that the engineering team will need to build. Bank.Green is a technical organization but does not currently have expertise in Excel so your contribution can be extremely helpful. Experience with the financial sector and/or refinitiv business classification can be helpful but are not required. This is a 1-3 hour per week initial commitment with occasional weeks of 5-15 hour commitments depending on your schedule.

Software Engineer (frontend, backend, & Excel):

Our team maintains a linear.app issue board and has bi-weekly SCRUM ceremonies including sprint reviews and sprint planning and a monthly retro. We're looking for friendly developers to help with our frontend (Vue.js+Nuxt) and backend site (Python+Django+SQLite) and infrastructure (Digital Ocean + Cloudflare). Have a look at our roadmap and culture presentation and public repos and email if you'd like to get involved. This is a 5-15 hour per week commitment.

Communications Specialist

Much of our work involves communicating with banks, such as identifying good candidates to join our Fossil Free Alliance, then reaching out and onboarding those who apply successfully . For this role, we are ideally looking for someone who can commit 5 hours per week or more.

Content Writer

We are expanding on our vision this year to become the "go-to" online resource green personal finance. As such, we're intending to put out a lot more articles around all aspects of this topic, empowering our visitors to make more climate-friendly choices with their money! If you'd like to help with this effort and can commit 3 or more hours per week, please reach out.

Product Owner (frontend & backend):

Bank.Green would appreciate a product owner's help in collecting stakeholder needs, productizing our features, creating a roadmap, and prioritizing development tickets. There is an existing groomed and categorized backlog and roadmap prepared, so you won't be starting from scratch. This is a 2-5 hour per week commitment.
