Volunteering with Bank.Green

Although we are beginning to fundraise, we are still currently led by volunteers! If you would you like to extend your climate impact beyond talking to your bank or switching to a greener alternative, we would love for you to join our team! Below we describe various roles that you may be able to help us with, depending on your background and availability.

If any of them interest you, do reach out to zak@bank.green, attaching a copy of your C.V. and letting us know about your availability! We are still a small team and receive a lot of enquiries, but we will do our best to get back to you, even if we feel it may not be the best fit.

Experienced Full-stack Engineer

We're looking for an experienced frontend or full-stack engineer to help steward the Bank.Green website alongside another senior engineer. The site runs on Astro with a React frontend, deployed via Cloudflare, with content managed through Prismic and data served via GraphQL and REST APIs. Day-to-day work involves maintaining and improving roughly 5,000 programmatically generated pages, with a focus on build performance, caching, SEO, and code quality. We also have various new features and improvements we would love to build. The role is fully remote and asynchronous, roughly 5–10 hours per week. We're looking for someone with strong JavaScript fundamentals, React experience, and genuine interest in climate accountability. A portfolio or GitHub profile is required to apply.

Bank Research Team

Bank.Green would like your help finding and sharing information about banks. Tasks include investigating bank lending policies and practices, publishing and maintaining bank pages, and distributing information to relevant activist groups. Our team maintains a database of 55,000 banks, with only 588 visible on our website. We would love it if you could help us grow this number!

This is a ~5 hour a week commitment requiring good general, computer, communication, and organizational skills. Some knowledge of accounting, auditing, or finance is helpful.
