Volunteering with Bank.Green
Although we are beginning to fundraise, we are still currently led by volunteers! If you would you like to extend your climate impact beyond talking to your bank or switching to a greener alternative, we would love for you to join our team! Below we describe various roles that you may be able to help us with, depending on your background and availability.

Business Accreditation Program Volunteer
Bank.Green is seeking a Volunteer Program Coordinator to help launch and scale the Bank.Green Business Accreditation Program which certifies businesses banking with green banks to promote environmental responsibility. This role involves engaging businesses, managing stakeholder relationships, coordinating with UK-based volunteers, tracking key performance indicators, and collaborating with the marketing team to create promotional materials. Data Scientist
Bank.Green is seeking one to two data scientists to help anayze bank sustainability policies and fossil fuel financing. This work involves using LLMs, knowledge graphs, SQL joins, and python pandas to infer row similarity across multiple datasets, generate filter statements, and collect data on fossil fuel companies. Ideal candidates will be in Western European, Central/Western African, Eastern Americas timezones. Product Owner
Bank.Green is seeking a Product Owner to lead the Green Policy Evaluator (GPE) project. This is a web-based application that utilizes LLMs to analyze financial institutions' sustainability policies, and potentially the Embrace project, an LLM-assisted campaign to help users contact their banks. Key responsibilities include driving the strategic vision of the GPE project, prioritizing development tasks, leading decision-making processes on data parsing and interface enhancements, collaborating with stakeholders for feedback and improvements, and monitoring the project's usage and impact. You will have experience in product ownership, strong teamwork skills, and a passion for sustainability and environmental advocacy. This is a 5-10 hour commitment. Front-End Engineers
Bank. Green is looking for Front-end Engineers to develop and maintain the public-facing Bank.Green website and the internal Green Policy Evaluator (GPE), a project using LLM technology to analyze bank policies for environmental impact. Responsibilities include collaborating with senior developers and UX/UI designers, developing frontend solutions using vue.js on nuxt, integrating with Python Flask or Django backends, and participating in Agile development. Ideal candidates will have experience as frontend engineers, proficiency in JavaScript, familiarity with vue.js and nuxt, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for sustainability and environmental advocacy. Mid/Senior Backend Engineer (Python Flask)
Bank. Green is looking for mid or senior-level backend developers to contribute to an LLM-assisted bank policy analysis project. This product is built in Flask with SQLAlchemy, Llamaindex, and a PostgreSQL backend, deployed on Azure. This dev team currently consists of two senior developers (Frontend and Backend) and a mid-level UX/UI designer. Team members maintain a Linear issue board and generally have a good flow loosely following SCRUM ceremonies. This is a 5-20 hour commitment. Communications Team Member
The Bank.Green team maintains social media accounts, a blog, and an active contact page. We are looking for someone to help us manage these channels. On social media, that includes reaching out to our partners and occasionally teasing bad banks about their policies. On our blog, that includes writing or editing posts about sustainable finance. More generally, it includes drafting and finalizing content calendars and coordinating text and graphics for content pushes. Some background in finance can be helpful but is not at all required. This is a 5-20 hour per week commitment. Content Writer
We are expanding on our vision this year to become the "go-to" online resource for green personal finance. As such, we're intending to put out a lot more articles around all aspects of this topic, empowering our visitors to make more climate-friendly choices with their money! If you'd like to help with this effort and can commit to 3 or more hours per week, email volunteers@bank.green to get involved.
Bank Research Team
Bank.Green would like your help finding and sharing information about banks. Tasks include investigating bank lending policies and practices, publishing and maintaining bank pages, and distributing information to relevant activist groups. Our team maintains a database of 55,000 banks, with only 588 visible on our website. We would love it if you could help us grow this number!
This is a 10-40 hour a week commitment requiring good general, computer, communication, and organizational skills. Some knowledge of accounting, auditing, or finance is helpful. Email volunteers@bank.green with your resume or CV if you would like to get involved.
