Volunteering with Bank.Green
Although we are beginning to fundraise, we are still currently led by volunteers! If you would you like to extend your climate impact beyond talking to your bank or switching to a greener alternative, we would love for you to join our team! Below we describe various roles that you may be able to help us with, depending on your background and availability.
If any of them interest you, do reach out to email@example.com, attaching a copy of your C.V. and letting us know about your availability! We are still a small team and receive a lot of enquiries, but we will do our best to get back to you, even if we feel it may not be the best fit.
Communications Team Member
The Bank.Green team maintains social media accounts, a blog, and an active contact page. We are looking for someone to help us manage these channels. On social media, that includes reaching out to our partners and occasionally teasing bad banks about their policies. On our blog, that includes writing or editing posts about sustainable finance. More generally, it includes drafting and finalizing content calendars and coordinating text and graphics for content pushes.
Some background in finance can be helpful but is not at all required. This is a 5-20 hour per week commitment. Please feel free to reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org to get involved, including a resume, social media links, writing sample, or small portfolio if possible.
We are expanding on our vision this year to become the "go-to" online resource green personal finance. As such, we're intending to put out a lot more articles around all aspects of this topic, empowering our visitors to make more climate-friendly choices with their money! If you'd like to help with this effort and can commit 3 or more hours per week, email email@example.com to get involved.
Bank Research Team
Bank.Green would like your help finding and sharing information about banks. Tasks include investigating bank lending policies and practices, publishing and maintaining bank pages, and distributing information to relevant activist groups. Our team maintains a database of 55,000 banks, with only 588 are visible on our website. We would love if you could help us grow this number!
This is a 5-20 hour a week commitment requiring good general, computer, communication, and organisational skills. Some knowledge of or interest in finance is helpful but not required. We are building this team starting in the UK and will prioritize people from or living in the UK, women, and minorities. Have a look at our research team presentation and email firstname.lastname@example.org with your resume or CV if you would like to get involved.
Data Scientist / Analyst - Line Manager & Communicator
Bank.Green would like your help creating a data team to extract structured data from bank sustainability policies and net zero plans. This dataset is composed of categorized questions followed by yes-no responses, with the ability to be extended to other response types and needs to be turned into standardized policies and information. Tasks include organizing and moderating team meetings, scripting, and manual input to create and clean datasets, and presenting findings to both internal and external audiences. This is a 10-20 hour/week commitment. Email email@example.com with your resume if you would like to get involved.
Mid Level Software Engineer - Frontend (Nuxt + Vue.js)
Bank.Green would like your help building software to help analyze sustainability policies and net zero transition plans. This team is farely advanced (mid to senior level) and communicates almost entirely asynchronously. On the team, there are currently two backend devs, one frontend dev, and 1/2 UX/UI designer. The team is friendly but there are almost no scheduled meetings. There is an issue board and a product roadmap, but much communication runs through the team lead. The project makes heavy use of LLMs. UI and UX skills are helpful but by no means necessary. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org with a resume and/or a github profile to get involved.
If any of these roles are of interest to you, either fill out this form (research team only) or email email@example.com, attaching a copy of your C.V. and letting us know about your availability! We are still a small team and receive a lot of enquiries, but we will do our best to get back to you, even if we feel it may not be the best fit.
