Washington Trust
Your bank has room for improvement on climate responsibility.
Washington Trust is a regional bank which serves customers in Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. The bank does not disclose its lending practices or policies, so we cannot rule out that it lends to fossil fuel companies. However, as its commercial lending is fairly limited, we think that the risk is pretty low.
The bank provides some financing to renewable energy companies but the amount has not been disclosed.
We'd like to see Washington Trust ramp up its support for renewable energy projects and put in place an explicit policy stating that it will not lend to fossil fuel companies.

Bank.Green believes that mass movements will pull us out of the climate crisis – and they’ll pull your bank out, too.
We were founded on the belief that banks have had an easy time from their customers for too long. Our mission is to encourage as many people as possible to take a stand - to refuse to let their money fuel environmental destruction any longer. Join us in building this movement by pressuring your bank to do better, or by taking your money to somewhere that cares about our planet's future.
