Umpqua Bank

Sorry, we don't know enough about Umpqua Bank yet.

Umpqua Bank is a large regional bank in the western US, headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Founded in 1953, Umpqua Bank has grown to become the largest bank headquartered in the Northwest. In 2023 Umpqua Bank merged with Columbia Banking System, another large regional bank. Umpqua provides lending to individuals, small businesses and large corporations.

Unfortunately, the bank does not provide sufficient information for us to conclude that it does not lend to companies in the fossil fuel sector.

We would like to see Umpqua measure its financed emissions (emissions arising as a result of its lending), set climate targets, introduce green products (e.g. preferential interest rates for energy-efficient homes) and put in place a clear policy of not lending to fossil fuel companies.

Bank.Green was founded on the belief that banks have had an easy time from their customers for too long. Mass movements will pull us out of the climate crisis – and they'll pull Umpqua Bank out, too.
