Your bank is climate responsible.
Sandy Spring does not appear to have exposure to the fossil fuel sector, although we cannot guarantee that as the bank does not have an explicit policy stating that it will not lend to companies in the fossil fuel industry.
We would encourage the bank to be more transparent about its practices and policies in this area, and to complete the CDP climate questionnaire which its investors have been asking for.
We would like to see the bank measure the greenhouse gas emissions enabled by its lending, set science-based targets over those emissions, and increase its level of lending to renewable energy companies and projects.
Bank.Green was founded on the belief that banks have had an easy time from their customers for too long.
Our mission is to encourage as many people as possible to take a stand - to refuse to let their money fuel environmental destruction any longer. Considering who you bank with, we think you probably agree. This is your chance to spread the word with us.
We can’t say it better than environmentalist Bill McKibben: “Money is the oxygen on which the fire of global warming burns.” But don’t wait for the fire department to turn up – join us!
