Your bank is climate responsible.
Crédit Mutuel Arkéa is a community bank owned by its members. Over the past few years, it has been increasing its support for the renewable energy sector while decreasing its support for the fossil fuel industry. It does not provide new lending to fossil fuel projects and has made a commitment to stop coal financing by 2027.
It offers green consumer products and has set decarbonization targets for most of its carbon-intensive sectors.
We'd like to see the bank measure and disclose emissions enabled by its lending.
News announced in January 2025: the National Investigation Service of the General Directorate for Consumer Affairs, Competition and Fraud Control has imposed an administrative fine of 690,000 euros on Crédit Mutuel Arkéa for breaches of the European regulation on interchange fees for payment transactions linked to a bank card, namely the implementation of a system limiting the choice of payment brand (CB, Visa or Mastercard) by the consumer using a co-badged card when making online purchases.
Our mission is to encourage as many people as possible to take a stand - to refuse to let their money fuel environmental destruction any longer. Considering who you bank with, we think you probably agree. This is your chance to spread the word with us.
We can’t say it better than environmentalist Bill McKibben: “Money is the oxygen on which the fire of global warming burns.” But don’t wait for the fire department to turn up – join us!
