Comerica Bank is a regional commercial bank with a presence across several states. Comerica provides a range of banking products and services, including checking and savings accounts, loans, mortgages, credit cards, and investment management services.
While Comerica Bank does have lending to companies engaged in fossil fuel exploration and processing, its lending to the renewable energy projects greatly outstrips its fossil fuel lending.
The bank provides a great deal of transparency about its impact on climate, it has measured greenhouse gas emissions enabled by its lending in line with industry standards, it has assessed its climate risks and it has set several climate targets.
We would like to see the bank put in place an explicit and publicly available policy to confirm that it will not lend to any new fossil fuel projects and that it will gradually phase out its lending to existing oil and gas clients.
